Things to do in the Swan Valley

A world of surprises await, rich wine & culinary experiences just 30 minutes drive from Perth’s CBD. Choose luxury accommodation in the Swan Valley for your next escape from the city.

Heritage

The Swan Valley’s rich history is evident throughout the region. Guildford, the gateway to the Swan Valley, was an early colonial settlement and many of its heritage buildings remain. The town is actually on the National Trust register and is lovely to stroll through and appreciate. Ensure you see Woodbridge House, and kids will love the historic colonial gaol! The Valley has strong southern European roots following the migration of Croatian farmers in the 1920s, who helped to establish many of the early vineyards, but the first grape vines were planted as early as the 1840s at Sandalford. There’s also the Motor and Transport Museum at Whiteman Park, the Museum of Natural History and Guildford Heritage Walk Trails. The quaint Old Saints Church is the oldest church in WA.

Attractions

Follow one of the themed Swan Valley trails which include fine wine, cider and ale and kids in the valley family friendly adventures. Enjoy a cruise on the Swan River with Captain Cook cruises. Hop on and off the Swan Valley Explorer bus to enjoy the many culinary attractions of the region. Guildford’s James Street is one of Perth’s best locations for antiques shopping, and art lovers will enjoy the studios, galleries, and sculpture parks dotted throughout the valley. Whiteman Park provides a day out with its vintage bus and train rides, conservation reserve, museums, Caversham Wildlife Park (home to around 200 species of fauna and over 2000 animals, birds and reptiles) and walking trails. Golf lovers will enjoy a round at The Vines, or for less-serious family fun, a game of Supagolf  in Henley Brook.
