Walk the Cape-to-Cape Track
The world-renowned Cape-to-Cape Track weaves right through Prevelly and Gnarabup, offering breathtaking views of the Indian Ocean and the coastal cliffs and forest that line them. While the whole track spans 123km, shorter stretches that allow you to still experience the best of the region’s flora and fauna can be completed. Our Top 5 sections.
Surf world-class breaks
This stretch of West Australian coast is hallowed ground for both local and travelling surfers. The powerful breaks here have long attracted the best in the world, who often visit during the annual World Surf League Margaret River Pro, held at Surfers Point. Grab your board and head down Surfers Point Road, which will lead you to surfing paradise. More on that here.

Swim at family-friendly beaches
For something gentler, Gnarabup Beach and the sheltered bay at Prevelly are local family favourites. Protected from the swell, they are ideal for kids to splash, paddle and, most importantly, build epic sandcastles.

Explore the coast
Spend your days beach-hopping, snorkelling, or spotting dolphins and whales offshore. Brought your boat? Launch it from Gnarabup Beach. The Rivermouth is also a great spot for kayaks, canoes and standup paddle boards.

Eat and drink locally
Embrace “Margaret River time” at one of Prevelly and Gnarabup’s laidback eateries. Perched above Gnarabup Beach, White Elephant Café is a must for brekkie post-surf or -swim. Kick back after a day spent on the waves, with a hearty dinner and a couple of drinks at local haunt The Common, or head to Sea Garden Café on the weekend for live music and one of the best vantage points of the coast. Need a quick fix? Prevelly’s General Store is a local institution that’s more than a convenience stop. Here you’ll find fresh supplies, daily necessities, and a community who live and breathe South West living.

Go to church
At the top of Prevelly, an icon stands, washed in white. The beautiful Theologian Greek Chapel, built in 1979, featuring a 9-metre bell tower and furnished with donations from WA’s Greek community, is an ode to the Greek chapels found around Greece. While usually locked, if you ask the Prevelly Park shop nicely, they’ll give you the keys for a peek.

Play at Riflebutts Reserve
Travelling with the kids? If they’ve spent all day out in the surf, on the sand and by the sea, but still have plenty of energy to burn, then take them to the playground at Riflebutts Reserve. This hidden, dog-friendly gem has everything you can expect of your typical playground, plus some unique public art, barbecue facilities and ocean views.
