Zen out with yoga in the Margaret River region

Holidays are for relaxing and taking a break from the ‘real world’. What could be better to help with this all-important task than a yoga sesh? And if you feel you really need to hit the re-set button, why not look into a zen-style retreat with friends while staying at a luxury home?

With its laidback charm and enthusiasm for embracing the unorthodox, it’ll come as no surprise that the Margaret River region has a range of studios and unique yoga concepts to choose from. And the great thing about doing yoga down south is you can keep zen-ing out in peace and quiet, if you like, or you can enjoy an extravagant lunch at a winery afterwards.

Here are some great yoga options in the Margaret River region.

Yoga in Dunsborough

The sunny seaside town is filled to the brim with cafes, boutique retailers, and beautiful bays – the idyllic place for treating yourself to a little ‘me time’.

Devahiti Yoga & Bodywork is a much-loved studio with gentle hatha and yin yoga sessions in local community hall locations or as private home bookings. Also, during the warmer months, you can experience a truly blissful sunrise at the Yacht Club with morning yoga.

Starr Light Yoga has some great classes in their new studio or they can come to your accommodation for private instruction. What’s really cool, is the summertime yoga and stand-up paddle boarding combo at Meelup Beach, or you could try their sound treatments for something different.

If you’re seeking fresh studio yoga with a variety of styles (including pregnancy, kids, and mums ‘n’ bubs offerings), Dunsborough Yoga Pod is your match. Last, but not least, we have Yoga South West with ‘flow’, ‘unwind’ and ‘tone’ classes in their studio.

Wellgevity also run private group classes – Pilates, Barre, Yoga and Children’s Movement. They supply the mats and equipment and happy to conduct classes in your private accommodation across the Margaret River region or arrange for a session at a local beach or winery.

Yoga in Yallingup

This quintessential surfer town with dramatic green hills and pounding surf is perfect for breathing deep that fresh WA air and rejuvenating your mind and body. Yoga at Yallingup has been running classes at on the lawn overlooking main break for nearly 10 years, with a loyal following from locals and visitors. Classes are seasonal – everyday through January and then weekends and public holidays up until Easter.

Yoga in Margaret River

As WA’s original home of the hippie, it’s no surprise yoga studios are in abundance in this cosy forested town. As the first full-time practising yoga school in regional WA, the friendly yogis at Margaret River Yoga School know what they’re talking about.

Join them for Iyengar yoga and gentle yoga, or check out their restorative style with sound bowls. Those who want to truly sink into the art of slow living down south, drop by Swell Yoga Studio for slow flow yoga.

Finally, we love Hanu Yoga & Massage, also Iyengar devotees, who offer sessions at Prevelly Beach in summer in addition to their usual schedule. Imagine yawning morning sunbeams on your face as you awaken your soul before heading back into town for a healthy smoothie. What better way to start the day?

Yoga in Busselton

Beautiful Busselton, right on the waterfront with endless stretches of white-sand beaches and family-friendly strolls. For variety aplenty, look into the popular Katie Yoga. From yoga on Busselton Jetty to chair yoga for those recovering from injury, or a private booking with your gal pals, you can’t go wrong here.

You’re also really spoilt in Busselton because at Essential Yoga, principal yoga teacher Jackie Clarke doesn’t stick to one particular style; she blends a variety together and throws in a few Pilates and physiotherapy exercises for good measure. Move over ordinary yoga class!
